Building in progress
One engineer, ten years deep. I build my own software — web apps, mobile apps and systems that go after problems worth solving, with precision, speed and no compromise on quality.
10+ years engineering // J2Digital est. 2026
“Creating sustainable software solutions that impact the world.”
J2Digital is one person. Ten-plus years of engineering, no committees and no handovers — I pick the problem, design the product and ship it myself. That keeps iteration fast, decisions deliberate and the craftsmanship consistent from the first commit to production.
I’m a South African engineer who wants to leave something behind that matters. So I build my own software — going after the unglamorous, expensive problems people quietly live with and solving them properly. Products built to last, not projects built to invoice.
My own products & systems
Everything here is mine — my idea, my code, my roadmap. Designed, built and maintained by one engineer.
First product
My first product, and the one I wanted to exist myself: quoting, invoicing and chasing payment without the admin that quietly eats the week. Engineered for uncompromising speed and reliability.
Web
Full web applications built from the database up. Fast, self-contained and made to keep running for years without babysitting.
Platform
Cross-platform builds that feel native on the device they land on. Engineered for high performance across every device class.
Systems
Product-grade platforms with scalable architectures, built to carry complex operational workflows without buckling.
A decade of shipped work sits behind what you see here, and the list keeps growing. R&D runs continuously in the background, so the web, mobile and platform systems I build keep meeting exacting modern standards rather than ageing into them.
Systems optimal…
Notes from the build
Working notes on the decisions behind the software — what was chosen, what broke and what it cost to fix.

The analytics here are sixty lines of PHP that set no cookies and tell no third party anything. What that measures, what it cannot, and why the trade was worth it.

A contact form that reported failure while doing everything right. PHP was loading a different php.ini for one file than another — a trap unique to shared hosting.

No Node, no Composer, no bundler, no lockfile — deploying this site is copying a folder. What that buys, what it costs, and why PaidLane is built the other way.
Following PaidLane, curious about the web and mobile apps I build, or sitting on a problem you think deserves software? It comes straight to me — the engineer who writes the code — and you’ll get a considered reply, usually within one working day.
